PRODRIFT SERIES FINALE - INCLUDING THE INTERCONTINENTAL CUP

Drifting will be the centre piece of this years Jap-Fest with the final round of the Prodrift Series taking place. This will be one of the biggest drifting events seen at Mondello Park for many years with many of 2011's international field returning for another bite at the SUperfast Mondello Park drift arena.

The Prodrift event format sees drivers run on their own in qualifying to determine the top sixteen qualifiers. The top sixteen drivers then go through to the Superlap stage where their performances determine the running order for the top sixteen run-off. In the final stage of the competition drivers then go head to head in two car battles with the winner of each progressing through the top sixteen run-off, quarter final, semi final and final to determine the overall winner.

For the 2012 event Prodrift will bring the deciding round of their Irish Series to Mondello Park for their first visit of the season.

Riders in the championship come form Ireland, the UK and Europe and have been wowing the crowds at Mondello all year starting with a test event at the first Clubman races of the season. Riders compete for overall honours as well as in a number of other categories, such as Sickest trick. practice and qualifying session will be run prior to the final for the top few riders so the stunt action will be non-stop throughout the day.

BARRELL SPRINT

New for 2012 at Jap-Fest will be the 'Barrel Sprint' which will be run by top UK event organiser Fueltopia Barrel Sprint.

Barrel sprinting requires a driver to slalom through a straight line of barrels performing a doughnut around each one before continuing to the next. Once the barrels have been successfully negotiated the clock stops when the driver crosses the finish line. For the 2012 Jap-Fest the Barrel Sprint will replace Drag Racing on the programme as the only competitive track event open to the public to enter.

Entries to the Barrel sprint will be limited to fifteen drivers. Competitors must apply to Mondello Park for a place in the competition and must include a picture of their car and some details on themselves and their competition experience, if any. Mondello Park and FBS will choose the best fifteen applicants and they will be invited to enter and go head to head with current UK championship leader Robert White.
